PAWEŁ BŁACHNO – CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, MANAGING DIRECTOR
Paweł Błachno is a graduate of the University of Economics in Krakow and the Stockholm University. He gained experience in financial and consulting institutions (DM PENETRATOR SA – now TRIGON and POLINVEST). Since 2004 Chairman of the Board of the Jagiellonian Center of Innovation (JCI) where he is responsible for the development and strategy of JCI. He is the author of the “Jagiellonian model of commercialization” to create and supervise portfolio companies. He has experience in developing and implementing business models, managing innovative projects, at pre-company stage. He coordinates the activities of enterprises receiving seed funds through construction of comprehensive offers for companies and establishes the scope of cooperation with innovators. He supervises all portfolio companies. He is responsible for negotiations and decisions relating to the conditions of entry and exit investments.

Dr. Andreas Frömer joined Forum MedTech Pharma e.V. in May 2010. He studied biology and received his PhD in food technology. Having a strong background in R&D and Sales positions for various companies in the medical sector he now promotes the Central Europe Programme InTraMed-C2C as a project manager for the Forum MedTech Pharma, a Bayern Innovativ Office.
- Michaela Egebrecht, TIS innovation park, Italy

Speaker profile:
Michaela Egebrecht joined TIS innovation park in 2009 and is responsible for EU projects and for knowledge transfer with focus on medicine and health care.
Prior to employment at TIS in Bolzano she gained experience in the financial sector in Vienna. During an internship in the US she appreciated the opportunity to deepen her knowledge about marketing and market analysis.
In 2004 Michaela Egebrecht graduated in Business Administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business followed by her international executive MBA at the University Salzburg. Since September 2012, Michaela has been expanding her knowledge during courses at the Friedrich-Alexander-University in Medical and Health Care Management.

Speaker profile:
Klára Bartha graduated as an economist in 2004 from the University of Miskolc, Hungary. She has specialization in marketing and innovation management. She started to work at the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office of the University of Debrecen in 2005 as an innovation manager. During her work she was participating in the management and implementation of numerous domestic and international R&D&I projects and was involved in the creation of the knowledge map and the preparation of the project evaluation system of the university of Debrecen. She is responsible for coordination of the administrative work and for the dissemination at the InTraMed C2C project. Currently she is a doctorate student at the Ihrig Károly Doctoral School in Business Economics and Organizational Studies at the University of Debrecen. In her research she investigates technology transfer process at Hungarian universities.

Mutual cooperation of corporate and academic sphere
Speaker profile:
Tina Igličar started her career in 2007 as a Project Coordinator and later as Development Coordinator at the Automotive Cluster of Slovenia (ACS). She was responsible for administration and management of 6 European and 2 national projects. She has been actively involved in several projects in the framework of transnational cooperation programme, Sixth and Seventh Framework Programmes (FP6, FP7) and Leonardo da Vinci programme. She was responsible for identification, planning and monitoring of project opportunities, identification, development and allocation of research resources in domestic and foreign R&D sphere eligible to participate in the acquisition of knowledge and implementation of projects. She was dealing with information exchange and communication within the cluster and among project teams in order to foster the transfer of know-how in cooperation with research and development organizations.
Currently Tina Igličar works at the Centre for Research and Innovation – CVVI (Czech Republic) as a Project Manager responsible for content and finance of 4 transnational cooperation projects.

Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Krakow, possesses second-degree specialization in general surgery and specialization in thoracic surgery. Trained abroad in thoracic surgery centers in Hannover and Copenhagen. Area of professional interest: surgery of the esophagus and the trachea and invasive ultrasound diagnostics of chest diseases. Author of numerous papers on tracheal and esophageal prosthesis and chest injury. Member of the Polish Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and the Polish Society of Ultrasonography. Has ample experience with management and implementation of research projects. In 2001 appointed Deputy Director for Medical Affairs in the John Paul II Hospital in Krakow.

Heimo Hrovat is the President and Owner of H+H SYSTEM GmbH in the second generation. He earned a Master Degree of Pharmacy from the University of Vienna and worked for various pharmacies and as assistant of the board at the market leading drug wholesaler in Austria. He started as assistant of his father (co-founder and pharmacist) at H+H SYSTEM in 2003. He also took over the R&D department within H+H SYSTEM and his father handed over the company in 2007. In 2011 he earned a Master Degree of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In 2012 he also took over the family pharmacy in Bad Ischl (Austria), where he lives with his wife and 3 kids.

Dr. Aneta Kopeć graduated from the Department of Food Technology University of Agriculture in Krakow, in 2002 she defended her PhD thesis. Training abroad: 6-month Dekaban Foundation scholarship at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada in 2003, practice research in 2004-2006 in the same institution.
Scientific interests: the way of nutrition and the state of nourishment of various population groups; the role of bioactive nutrients (polyphenols, fiber, plant sterols, etc.) in the prevention of diet-related diseases. Scientific output: 34 original papers and monographs and 74 abstracts for national and international conferences. Teaching students about diet.

Denis Jordan is a research fellow at the Department of Anaesthesiology, Klinikum rechts der Isar, Technische Universität München (Germany). He grew up in Berne (Switzerland) where he graduated in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics before he went to Munich and received a PhD. His primary research interests include analysis methods of signals generated by nonlinear dynamics, their application and evaluation in EEG, EP and fMRI data, and neural mechanisms of consciousness and unconsciousness.

After his studies in 1992-1999 at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the PhD in 1999, Dr. Schleß worked as assistant physician at hospitals in Regensburg (gastroenterology), Munich-Neuperlach (diabetology), Bamberg (intensive care) and Bad Mergentheim (diabetology). In 2007 he was designated diabetologist. In April 2007 Dr. Schleß established his own doctor´s office with focus on diabetology in Bamberg.

Thomas Karopka has over 20 years working experience in the area of information and communication technologies and biomedical informatics. After working 10 years in industry, he moved to academia where he worked for 5 years in the area of bioinformatics. In 2007 he moved to the IT Science Center Rügen, an institute of applied research where he was head of the eHealth department. Since August 2011 Thomas Karopka Has been working as a project manager for BioCon Valley GmbH where he is responsible for international projects in the domain of eHealth.
Thomas Karopka is a member of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH), council member of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) and chair of the International Medical Informatics Association Open Source Working Group (IMIA OS WG). He also serves as the European Liaison Officer for the ACM Special Interest Group on Health Informatics (ACM SIGHIT)

MEng, graduated from the Krakow University of Technology. Additional studies in the Polis-American Business School in Krakow (management and marketing), Sloan School of Management at MIT Cambridge USA (system dynamics), Rutgers University, New Brunswick, USA (Biopharma Global Entrepreneurship, MiniMBA) and other.
His area of professional interest: development of innovation ecosystems, economic growth, technology transfer, innovation and entrepreneurship management in life science and biotechnology. Contributed to the development of LifeScience Krakow initiative, managing director since cluster foundation (www.lifescience.pl).
Scientific interests and activities: knowledge management, learning organizations, development of biotechnology clusters, and complex adaptive systems.
He is writing his PhD thesis on “Evaluation of innovation potential of clusters based on system dynamics method” (Leon Kozminski Academy in Warsaw).
